Urban Pilgrimage: A City Journey on

Saturday 25th October

11.00-3.00pm approx

‘The modern city is a place of ‘flows and nodules’.  The main function of streets and road ways is to allow the swift passage of traffic bringing people and goods together so we can fulfil our new identity as consumers.  There are few ‘nodules’- places where we can step aside and ponder, stare or daydream.  How are we to be spiritual beings?’

The day will offer the chance to reflect on how the city can help us in our spiritual journey.

The walk is approx 4 miles on pavements and is wheelchair accessible.

Bring own lunch or buy in town.

Other events will follow. Please pass this information on to others you feel might be interested.

Research & Resource

In the last few months we have reshaped our mission so as to focus on two areas:
Research into urban spirituality
Resourcing groups working with spirituality in the city

The implications of this change will become clearer as the year goes on. To see our current research go to the Research page.
For possible resources see the Who we are and Recent Events pages.

About the Centre

The Manchester Centre for Urban Spirituality has grown out of the conviction that God is as much to be experienced in the city as on the mountain top. It was begun by a group coming from a variety of Christian traditions, but seeks to open its doors to all who are seeking to live 'with spirit' in the city, to all who seek greater depth and richer humanity in urban living. The planning group now also includes a Buddhist monk and other spiritual seekers are also involved in the project.

If you wish to explore these possibilities please do come along!

We seek to:

  • Be a resource for all those who seek to live with spirit in the city, whether within an existing faith community or as a spiritual seeker.
  • Be a place where people from many backgrounds and ways of understanding the world can meet and learn from one another.
  • Be a centre of research.
